Universal Basic Income

I was really inspired by Andrew Yang in his advocacy for a universal basic income. This would over time address the inherent problems of a wealth gap by rating the working class of America to have a sustaining and fulfilling life. A Universal Basic Income would drastically improve the nature of how many Americans live paycheck to paycheck. Since 40% of American adults can't afford a $400 emergency it would most certainly benefit many Oregonians.

Here's how this would work :

  • Every U.S. citizen over the age of 16 would receive $1,000 a month, regardless of income or employment status, free and clear, and no jumping through hoops.

  • A Universal Basic Income at this level would permanently grow the economy by 12.56 to 13.10 percent and it would increase the labor force by 43 to 45 thousand people.  Putting money into people’s hands and keeping it there would be a perpetual boost and support to job growth and the economy.
