Retirement Benefits

When you have put the work in to make this world a better place you deserve to sit back at some point and relax and enjoy the time left you to have here. So it only makes sense that the state should provide you with some comfort and ease in your retirement since you made an impact on where we are today. So I want to make sure seniors today have 2 things when they retire. One, making sure we keep our promises to you about public pensions like PERS and other retirement programs. Two, that we advocate for an increase in comfort and security you currently have so your retirement is even better than you could have imagined.

So here's how we do that :

  • Require companies with more than $1 billion USD in annual revenues to match their workers’ Social Security contributions in addition to employer-paid Social Security.

  • Require companies with more than 20 employees to pay into pension funds that all their workers qualify for, regardless of hours worked per week or job description.

  • Require to fully fund pensions for all public workers.

  • Requiring Oregon to negotiate lower drug prices while maintaining access to all FDA-approved medications.

  • Cut drug prices by 50% by making sure Oregon pays no more for prescription drugs than other major countries.

  • Require companies to disclose the costs of clinical drug trials.

  • Expand social security benefits across-the-board including a $1,300 a year benefit increase for seniors with incomes of $16,000 a year or less.

  • Increase cost-of-living adjustments to keep up with the rising cost of healthcare and prescription drugs by establishing a Consumer Price Index for the Elderly.

  • Increasing the minimum benefits paid to low-income workers when they retire.
